On Tuesday, June 21, about thirty people, including Mexicans, Guatemalans, Canadians, Chileans and Ecuadorians, expressed their support for the CNTE in front of the Mexican Consulate in Vancouver, Canada. Everyone present declared their rejection of the brutal repression ordered by the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto against against the teachers in Nochixtlan, Oaxaca, which left 9 dead and hundreds injured.
At the gathering, a call was made for the community to organize globally and locally, in order to move beyond protest and put on activities and actions that truly put pressure on the Mexican government. Attendees agreed to meet on Saturday June 25 at the office of the Dignidad Migrante organization, to collectively design a plan of action.
